Established in 1984, we have been providing quality childcare for nearly 30 years.

In 2004 the nursery was taken over by Jason Ashcroft, and following an extensive redevelopment project is now the premier childcare facility in the area. Set in over an acre of  beautiful gardens, Chestnut House provides everything your child needs to develop, in a naturally warm and homely environment. Chestnut House itself is a converted farm, which dates back over 500 years!!

Aims and Objectives

The nursery aims to encourage each and every child to attain his/her full potential within a homely relaxed environment.
Each child is assigned a specific member of staff (key worker) who will be responsible for observing, recognising and fulfilling that particular child’s individual needs, supported by the rest of the team.

Observations, art and craft and photographs of your child’s time in nursery, are put together to create an individual `profile’ ,which follows your child’s development and progress during their time with us.

Profiles are available for your perusal at anytime and are coupled by daily feedback from your key worker.

We believe that enjoyment is a vital component in the learning experience, educating through  play, encouraging a natural desire to learn and develop.
Activities to encourage the six areas of development creative, number, knowledge and understanding of the world, personal and social, communications, language and literacy, physical, are planned appropriately to suit specific age groups and individual needs.

Pre-reading, writing and number skills are encouraged through activities that explore shape, pattern and various concepts e.g.size.
