Busy Bees (Pre School)
Children between the ages 3-5 complete their journey with Chestnut House Day Nursery in our large preschool room which is instructed by our highly qualified Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Practitioners and fully qualified Primary School teachers.
Busy Bees is designed to mimic a classroom and children are encouraged to wear a uniform, in preparation for Reception class at Primary School and to make the transition as seamless as possible.
Our pre-school however still provides a warm, friendly, fun and caring environment and our aim is to develop independence skills, confidence and self-esteem, which will later help your child to thrive, especially when starting school.
Observations of the children are done on a daily basis which helps us to plan activities to further the children’s development. During the day we do have regular structured activities, such as a morning welcome, not just by saying ‘hello’ in English, but in different languages we know. We ensure we make the most of the outdoor area, including the forest school, the woodland area and the petting farm, by going outside at least twice a day, whatever the weather.
Your child’s learning journey will continue to be updated and this will then be shared with the confirmed primary school. This will run alongside the verbal reports given daily, as in the 0-2 and 2-3 room respectively. Towards the end of your child’s time in the Busy Bee’s room, we will also encourage Reception class teachers to come to the nursery to discuss school with the children, as well as organising visits to schools too. We are always very sad but proud to see our preschoolers move onto their next stage in life.
