Funny Frogs (2-3 Years)

Our dedicated room for toddlers is where babies transition to the next stage at Chestnut House for children age 2-3 years.

The Funny Frog room provides free flow provision for education and development through play, with a focus on learning through fun, creative and imaginative exploration including activities that focus on; the days of the week, weather, numbers and colours.

Toddlers have immediate access to a private outdoor play zone, and at this stage they are able to have extensive use of the outdoor play facilities and woodland area. They will also use the petting farm with pigs, ducks and chickens and the brand new outdoor classroom.

Inside the warm and friendly Funny Frogs room, toddlers will be able to make use of the popular art area and conservatory zone, as well as a quiet sleeping area.

Like all children at Chestnut House, toddlers will continue to benefit from home-cooked nutritious meals and in this room they will be supported to use cutlery and learn table manners.

In Funny Frogs, your child’s Key Worker will also be observing your toddlers development ensuring that the learning environment meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage – giving them the very best possible start to their education, which we continue through their 12 months within the toddler setting.

As with the 0-2 room our fully-qualified staff will ensure that a learning journey is documented and a verbal report is also given upon collection of your child.

A discussion will be held with you when staff and senior members feel your child is ready to make the transition into pre-school. They will be invited to take part in a series of visits supported by their key worker to assist them when their final transition into preschool happens.
